Freestyle/Disco is the trendiest and most popular form of dance in the UK today. It involves runs, kicks, spins and leaps as well as many other diverse steps and movements including lots of arm and hand actions. The music can be fast and ‘beaty’ or slow and lyrical, allowing dancers of all ages to use freedom of expression to enhance their style.
Freestyle dance at DC Dance is taught by Ex-Championship Freestyle dancers who have also gained IDTA awards for their teaching abilities and hold adjudicator licenses. The staff are committed to ensuring fun, yet safe coaching and training methods to the pupils and are available for both general and competitive freestyle dance training.
DC pupils can either choose to dance simply for fun or if they wish, work towards competition standard. Competitive freestyle involves more intense training sessions to improve technique, stamina, strength and flexibility. Our freestyle staff offer private tuition in order to train pupils to competitive standard. Classes also work towards Medal Test Examinations with the IDTA and additional performing experiance in our annual Show.
