Our First Ballet class is an ideal introduction into the world of classical ballet. Within our classes children learn the basics of classical ballet through the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Pre-Primary, MMEL (Melody Movement Early Learning) and IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabi, with a focus on entering IDTA Rosette Examinations. Using this creative mixture of syllabi helps to develop students’ physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles. Set to engaging music, the gentle exercises teach the beginnings of the ballet technique in a creative and fun environment.
Tip Tap Toe provides a fun introduction to tap dancing with themes and stories to introduce tempo, rhythm, beats, patterns and steps. Children will love exploring these principals of music and dance in a 'journey into tap' featuring rhythms inspired by musical genres as diverse Big Band, Rock n Roll, Disco, Show Tune, Hawaiian Hula-Hula, Cheerleader and others Children both benefit from and enjoy interactive learning, responding with great enthusiasm to anything that is visually, aurally and tactilely attractive. Therefore, within our classes at DC Dance we use a wide range of high quality props.
The syllabus taught within both classes links to the Early Years Foundation Skills (EYFS) and is suitable for reception aged children. Children remain in this class until they enter academic year one in which the natural progression is to move up to our Foundation Ballet & Tap class.
