Foundation Ballet & Tap
RAD, MMEL and IDTA Sylabus for Academic Year 1 Children
Foundation Ballet & Tap is the next step within a dancer’s ballet and tap journey. Within our classes children continue to learn classical ballet with the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) Primary syllabus and MMEL (Melody Movement Early Learning) and tap with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabus with a focus on entering IDTA Rosette Examinations. Using this creative mixture of syllabi helps to develop students’ physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles. Set to engaging music, the gentle exercises teach the beginnings of the ballet and tap technique in a creative and fun environment.
Children both benefit from and enjoy interactive learning, responding with great enthusiasm to anything that is visually, aurally and tactilely attractive. Therefore, within our classes at DC Dance we use a wide range of high quality props. The syllabus taught within both classes links to the Early Years Foundation Skills (EYFS) and is suitable for reception aged children. The children remain in this class until they enter academic year one in which the natural progression is to move up to our Foundation Ballet & Tap class.
